Plant mechanics manufacture and install piping and facility systems for industries such as chemical, oil and gas, food production, or municipal utility services.
Their tasks include:
Cutting and bending metal sheets
Measuring and cutting pipes
Fabricating pipe or metal components
Producing parts using CNC machinery
If necessary, components are assembled into units in the workshop and transported to the installation site or client facility. On-site, they assemble the components, connect pipe systems, install valves and gaskets, attach boilers or pressure tanks, and hand over the completed system to the client.
They are also responsible for maintaining, repairing, and, when needed, modifying or upgrading existing systems.
