General IT assistants handle tasks in software development, system management and support, as well as user support.
They work in coordination with other IT professionals to design and implement applications, develop multimedia software, program internet solutions, design and maintain databases, and customize standard software according to user needs.
Additionally, they install and configure networks, manage system software components, and design user interfaces. They participate in creating security plans and back up data.

Using system analysis and customer needs assessment, they define the required specifications of IT systems and applications.
To detect potential issues early and ensure user-friendliness, they test software components and IT systems. They also provide user support by troubleshooting issues.
